day 244: goodbye paci's

The Little Senorita had begun channeling Bugs Bunny,
(you know, the overbite and all)...

and I didn't feel it was my sole responsibility to fund our orthodontists' childrens' college educations...

so we said goodbye.

Photobucket

Probably the last paci's we'll see in our house.

I was really quite elated to see them go.
Not sad at all.

Not sad until I started writing this.
Now I'm a little sad.

I'm not really a "baby" person. Older kids are more my speed.
But I have so enjoyed this baby.
We waited for her so long.
Everyday I look at her and know I am blessed.

So maybe I'll hang on to the paci's a little longer.
I'll keep them in a special place.
Maybe take them out once in awhile to look at them,
so I can remember these times with my baby.

This makes me really glad that my son never got addicted to the passy!

Now if we could just manage to get him potty trained!!

Gosh, I think you've managed to capture the melancholy of saying good-bye to the paci in this photo. But from a former overbite, bracers-wearing teen - it's definitely preferable to years of metal in the mouth!

My sons both loved their binkies, but my girl only liked her fingers! Luckily, peer pressure got her to give those up without too much trouble! Good luck!

AWWWWW! so sweet. My kids did not like pacis so I think I am lucky.. just had to leave the house for days on end to wean them from the breast... SO sweet and melancholy.. I would hide them in a special place, if I were you. SO nice that you have that keepsake.. all I have are two saggy boobs to tuck in my waistband....LOL

That picture is adorable. So cute and I am so happy for you! My daughter is just about turning 15 months and I don't know when to get rid of hers. She is absolutely addicted. They are her buddies. She carries some and uses one. It's cute and all, but when she wakes up in the middle of the night looking for the one..you get the picture.

I'd love to know how it's going! How old is baby? I am at anotherdayanotherdiaper-mom.blogspot.com

Precious post! I remember when I took our youngest sons away to this day, 12 years ago.
But, he picked up a blanket when the pacie checked out. Time moves on to quickly. He played first football game of the season last night. by the way they won 28-14

Thank you for stopping by Karli. I left you a reply on my post (which I need to stop doing) and then thought...uh duh...she wont see that.

One of these days I will brave the pacifier take away, but I'm not there yet. I hope her teeth aren't affected. I haven't noticed anything yet. Thanks again for your comments Karli!

Awe. So sweet. I'm definitely a baby person and have always loved Paci's, but Bennett never took them until recently. I have to say, it's pretty cute. Love that picture!

What a precious tribute...and photo. All three of my boys sucked on a paci for about ten minutes, spit it out and wouldn't have thing to do with them. I suppose, for that I could be thankful...and then...I became the paci (mostly for my first born).

Sniff - It is kinda sad to see all the baby stuff go. I just gathered a big bag of extra baby-proofing stuff and thought... "I guess we will no longer need any of this stuff...." and not that I really like any of those crazy gizmos...but still. It is a little sad to see them go. THOSE paci's are way too cute to let go of. Stick them in her keepsake box!

Congrats for being rid of the paci! I remember those days...and do not miss them at all! :) But it is sad to see the days of baby-hood fade into memory.

What a sweet post! Be glad you can get rid of the pacis. We have two thumb suckers here and Carson currently wears a $500 retainer to help him with his bad habit! So glad to hear I am not the only person who thinks the baby stage may be a little overrated! HA HA!

Here in Australia, I believe paci's are known as dummies.
My firstborn used his until his sister came along and we used the..."now you can give it to her" psychology. Fortunately, my girl tried a paci as a baby, spat it out and then used me instead for 2 1/2 years...weaning was no issue...
Mind you, my girl is the one I had to spend $1000's of dollars on for teeth straightening metal later on in life...go figure!
Gorgeous photos by the way. Thank you for sharing.

You could always replace one addiction with another? I never had a paci...and my sister was attached to cloth diapers - she sucked on them til she was 10 I think. Bless her heart!

It is so sad to see the baby things go. You blink twice and they're grown and off to college. But, braces are expensive!! You could buy LOTS of great camera equipment to make you even better able to capture these precious memories!!

PS - Probably much to her chagrin, she'll always be your baby! :-)

Awww... my baby still loves her suckie. ;) I usually take it away from the littles once they're about 20 months.

So, she gets to enjoy it for a few more months.
