so long $1.27

After a rainy, windy, yucky morning...this afternoon the sky was filled with fluffy, marshmallowy clouds; perfect for a shot I had in mind.

I picked up the boys from school and raced to the grocery store to buy a bright red balloon. So far so good.

No sooner had I got my camera and went out on the deck, I was greeted by this...um, ... "smattering?" of clouds. Bummer!

I went out in my yard and held that balloon every which way, but not one fluffy marshmallowy cloud was in sight. Not only that, the wind was (still) blowing 40 miles an hour and I was getting all tangled up in the ribbon - grrr!

I was planning to tie the balloon to our fence to get some good shots, but again...because of wind issues, I ended up having to hold it in one hand and shoot with the other. Have I mentioned my camera is heavy?

I have no idea why I'm editing a picture that's not a keeper. Haze, anyone?

If you're wondering why I'm posting it anyway, I'm too cheap frugal to let $1.27 go to waste without anything to show for it.

Stay tuned. More balloon pictures coming your way. Although since Nebraska is the 7th windiest state, it might be awhile. (Did you know that, Nebraska friends)?

Hope you had a great Wednesday! :-)

Edit: The hubs just came happening by, and said he doesn't see a difference between the 1st and the 3rd picture. For the record:

I would have done the same exact thing...no lie.

I edit nonkeepers all the time. Sometimes hours, thinking I'll somehow make it a keeper. Maybe tomorrow your puffy clouds will reappear.

well I LOVE this picture whether you think it's a keeper or not.

I feel your pain. Those clouds move so fast, it's hard to get the shot you want if you're not prepared THAT SECOND!! But, I'd have done the same thing - not going to waste $1.27. I walk into traffic to get a quarter - no lie!

I happen to think the "smattering" of clouds is pretty cool. And, I love the concept!

I actually saw the sky yesterday and thought of you and your sky pictures. :-) I'm chuckling because I my husband can't see the difference between 2pictures of mine sometimes that are obviously different to me. lol

Well, I love it. It reminds me of that short film "The Red Balloon" I'm sure your kids could come up with something fun to do with it to the the $1.27 out of it ;)

I agree w/ Kristi...I liked the cotton candy clouds too. :) Nice contrast against the blue sky. Great idea & the fact that it only cost you $1.27 is fabulous!

What a fun idea! Sorry you missed those puffy clouds.....I saw them yesterday and thought "this would be a cool picture" but didn't have the time to get out the camera. I quit asking Mark's opinion on photo editing long ago. ha!
