day 294: little decorations

For the record, our family doesn't really "celebrate" Halloween. I don't mind if the kids go trick-or-treating, and we even carve pumpkins, but that's about it. We decorate the house for fall, not Halloween. Not the most God-centered holiday if you see where I'm going with this.

But this year, the boys wanted to make little ghosts to hang in a couple trees outside. I saw an excuse to make super easy, fun crafts, so I said sure. They're friendly ghosts. :-)

Those are cute. I don't really celebrate Halloween either. I have a few pumpkins out (not carved) and I did buy the light up jack o lantern for a picture (it was $5)...but that's about it. But yeah..this is very cute.

Love the happy ghosts. From your definition I don't celebrate Halloween either. My parents never let us dress up as evil things, just happy cute things.

We're not huge on Halloween either. It's my husband's birthday so it's hard to make both special. Very cute friendly ghosts!

Adorable..... and we treat Halloween about the same way...and we decorate for Fall...but we also use HAlloween as a story line as to why we chousl tell others about Jesus...so we don't misunderstand how things work! :)

Ha Karli, ghosties are definitely different than ghosts. ;)

I love this! I did this once with Lorelei my oldest (whens she was one) and I completely have forgotten about it since. I might do it again this year. Very cute!

Super cute! We aren't into the creepy/gross parts of Halloween, there's some nasty stuff out there, but I think all the candy, pumpkins, and the cute costumes are lots of fun. :) We do a "trunk-or-treat" at our church, and the kids love that.

What a cute project! Where could I find the instructions to make these?

Hi Leah! I'm so sorry I can't comment back to you. I clicked on your name, and it doesn't provide your email address. I just used styrofoam balls for the heads, covered with white fabric. (Any white fabric, since I'm not a sewer and had no clue what I was doing in the store - ha!) :-) I just tied little orange ribbon around the neck, and the eyes are little push pin type things. They literally take less than a minute each - and that's my kind of craft! :-)

How did you manage to not blow out a single pixel in that shot? And your tree looks straight out of a movie. The orange ribbon is too cute.

Sounds like our version of Halloween, too! (Although we did carve a skeleton jack o' lantern 6 years ago. ;) And I still think it was cool.)

Those are some cute ghosts!! And the leaves are lovely.

This picture is PERFECT!! I love it!

I don't really celebrate Halloween either. Taylor went trick or treating as a youngster, and we decorate for fall, not Halloween. I do think, though, (but I'm no historian) that Halloween was originally a religious holiday, sort of. It's the eve of All Hallows Day (or All Saints Day) which is November 1. My church celebrates All Saints Day by remembering all the church members who've died since the last All Saints Day. I'm not really sure how it turned into the holiday as it's celebrated today. I'll have to check with my son on that - he's the history buff.

I think Halloween for our family is all about getting together dressing up having parties eating donuts and having a house filled with decorations. I don't think fall would be the same with out it.

;)

I am totally gonna have to make these. they are adorable!

i love the blue blue sky and the light in the trees and like somebody said - no blown out white. we celebrate it i guess, but we dont want anything scarry or the real Halloween stuff. our parents used to take us to a movie instead of going trick or treating or being home when trick or treaters would come. if we got to dress up, it was something we made up at home and it wasn't scary!
