I want to point out that portrait photography is not my forte; I really struggle with it. To those that do it and do it well...I applaud you! It's HARD!
Drew used to be my easiest child to photograph. Those big green eyes, the perfect non-smile expression. But lately, he has been doing this thing with his face where it looks like he has a chin implant. (Not that there's anything wrong with that).
I was testing out a new lens last weekend...the 70-200mm f/4. I was zoomed in most of the way on these shots, placing me much farther away from Drew. It's easier when mom is not weilding a camera 6 inches in front of your face.
I discovered you have to hold a telephoto lens very steady. I will have better examples of this when I post some pictures of the Tiny Tornado. Let's just say there were a few "misses" in terms of focus.
If you're thinking I've lost my mind and got carried away with the vignetting here, worry not. I didn't add any vignette to this picture at all. Drew was standing in a doorway, and the lighting was amazing.
Here's a hint of the aforementioned chin implant.
THIS is my Drew! This is his natural look. Silly, goofy, sweet, and sporting two grown-up teeth that his little Kindergarten self hasn't quite grown into yet.
And here's a sneak peek of the Tiny Tornado in action. I'll have a few more to post over the next few days.
I'm so behind on my blog reading. If you've left me a comment, and I haven't stopped by your blog yet, I'll be there soon! ♥

That's what I am talking about ^_^
Looking forward to the 9th Celebration of our oldest "angel"!!!!
No no no no no. NO! The 70-200 2.8 with IS, THAT is the zoom you want. Take my word for it. Yeah, having to hold that thing steady... the IS is worth every penny!
Beautiful portraits Karli, looks like a really neat location too.
Oh my goodness, You have such a handsome son and your portrait session turned out wonderful!!!!!
These are so adorable! Wonderful photos!
You seriously have beautiful children. I don't think you suck with portraits at all. Can you just come down when I have my children and take pictures for me. :)
Oh Karli these are wonderful shots!!!! Seriously, you are so good with portraits!
I love all your pics....even the parsley....but I must say......these are *way* cuter than the parsley. :)
They are all adorable! I see what you are talking about with the light and I know nothing about photography.
As always I love looking! Brings smiles - enjoy them!

You did an amazing job!!! I have a hard time getting my guys to look natural too!!
These are fantastic! What an adorable little boy - I love that last shot of him! Of course, the tiny tornado is always so cute!
Gorgeous shots!!
Great job on these, Karli! I think you can stop saying you're no good at portraits. ;-)
But what a cool mohawk he's sporting! And I think you take great portrait photographs.
Drew is such a cutie! I love the one with him grinning! :)
And the Tiny Tornado is adorable of course... can't wait to see more from that photo shoot later!
He's grown up so much! There's quite a difference from the pictures in your header.
I *LOVE* the last shot of him!! The teeth are awesome. :D Michael still has baby teeth up top.
Livia is looking so big, too. A girl, not a baby. Sniff.
loving your photos - I don't think it's true when you say portraits are not your forte - I think they are amazing
good to be home and catch up on my friends!
