party of three: 7/52

OK, here we go! Week number 7, picture of the week! :-)
Photobucket

You'll never hear me tooting my own horn, but I have to say...I really like that one! ♥

We're having amazing temperatures for February (60 today, I think), so I piled up the kids after school and we headed for the lake.

First we had a snack...

...and then we went for a run.

Here we headed down to the boat dock. (Kathy, you're not going to call me out and say it's not a boat dock, are you)? It's kind of a boat dock. ;-)

I knew about the rule of thirds before I was ever interested in photography. I don't know what it is, but my subject always winds up right smack in the center of the frame. I even toggle my focus points on the back of my camera. Oh well! I could have cropped it, but this is part of my new mantra: stop obsessing over ever little detail, and let it go! :-)
Photobucket

I don't think every picture is a candidate for a black and white conversion, especially if there is a lot going on in the picture, but I wanted to try a low contrast, hazy black and white conversion with this shot.
Photobucket

OK, last climbing picture, I promise. Just capturing a bit of TT's personality.

It was wonderful to get out in the sunshine today! Are you ready for Spring?! :-)

Have a wonderful weekend, and thank you SO MUCH for your sweet, sweet comments on my latest pics of TT (and the attempt at a new perspective). I wish you could know how much your encouragement motivates me! ♥

Happy Weekend!

Oh wow! I so love your first shot Karli! I was thinking of you today when I went out shooting the kids (HA!) as they goofed out back. Unfortunately one of them poses every darn time he sees me!

Love love love the photos! And love seeing the siblings connections! ;)

That last one is my favorite! Love it. Yes, getting out of the center of your frame can be tough. I spend a lot of time toggling my focus point. You could lock your focus and reposition it to the rule of thirds. I used to do that but then I noticed I didn't always get the focus where I wanted.

It's so nice to get outside again! You can just hear their thoughts on the first picture, finally getting to run outdoors! Great job and thanks for the motivation to your readers to better our skills.

The pictures are great. Wish our weather was on the warmer side today. The outside is calling my name, but it is still too cold to answer the call.

Great moments captured! I believe it could have been called a party of four???? You are having fun getting away from all the rules. :) Have a wonderful weekend.

We've had some unusually warm weather this past week, it was fabulous and I rejoiced in it. Can't wait for Spring. Your daughter's outfit made me think of Easter eggs, all the fun springtime colors.

Adorable shot of them holding hands and running.

These are very sweet pictures, Karli. BTW - you can call it a boat dock if you want. I won't tell. ;-) Love the striped leggings!

Love that first one and the ones of TT climbing on the "boat dock". Love that you aren't obsessing over the little details. Real life. And you captured it beautifully.

Hope you have a wonderful Sunday, friend!

Great shots!!!

You don't always have to adhere to the rule of thirds. :)

Totally ready for spring. Great pics like always. I think I have a tendency to overdo the B&W conversion. Thanks for the tip on when it should and when it shouldn't be done. I like your's though.

Great shots, Karli!

Is it just me, or does Livia look like she's grown numerous inches since the last standing shots of her?

I love the climbing shots of TT and them looking out from the "dock" ;) I hope you figured out how to follow my blog for your "daily dose" ;) andddd hope you have a wonderful week!

Just found your site and I looooove it!! I, like you, am a mom who loves photography (my daughter is 2) but I have no plans to go pro. Many of my shots are similar to yours. I love finding new perspective and photographing different parts of my daughter. It's a way to hold on to her "babyhood". Thanks for posting, and please keep it up!!

Whenever I come here, I spend a huge chunk of my time going through your older posts and getting inspired all over again. :)

I love how you love photography and I love how you dare experiment and I love how you share what you've learned. Thanks for that, Karli. =)
