project 365: day 52-56

day 52: my kitchen window, 4:23 p.m.

Photobucket

This is the crazy sunflare that blinds me every evening as I'm cooking dinner. I took this shot with my 100mm macro. Remember, to get all those little pointy things on your starburst, you need a tiny aperture. I used f/22.

day 53: a gigantic oops (i mean abstract spoon)

Photobucket

Totally not what I was going for here. Posting this picture anyway is good for me and my new motto: it doesn't have to be perfect, let it go! :-)

day 54: c'mon spring!

Photobucket

day 55: 23 hours later...

Photobucket

No joke. Accoring to the memory card, the tulip shot was taken at 5:44 on Wednesday, and the snowy shot was taken at 4:51 on Thursday. I was going to do some artsy shot, you know...snow on the seat of the swing, snow on the tips of our fence posts...
Let's cut to the chase: I'm not a cold weather person. So please enjoy this shot taken from under our covered deck. ;-)

day 56: an awesome idea!

Photobucket

I recently came across a blog called SKC Photography. One of her suggestions was to use the TV as a background. Genius! So much color, softness, variety...I love this idea! I was drawing a blank as to what to use for this shot, and remembered a beautiful shot by Allie. Thanks for the inspiration guys! ♥

Hope everyone had a great week! XO

Such sweet shots... and the snow. Same thing happened here. Yesterday I took a picture of a crocus coming up outside... today the poor thing is buried under 10 inches of snow...

They are all so great! I would of never thought of using the tv for a backdrop, what lens did you use on that shot? I love the tulips too, I can't wait to get out there in my flower bed and plant new flowers!

I've missed your posts! And I learned something new today. Had absolutely no clue that's how you get that gorgeous sun flare with the pointy things. Lovely shots.

All beautiful {as always ^_~}. SUCH a cool trick on the first shot. Love those bursts! Did you use a tripod?

Liz said...

Great as always!!!!! Gosh I want to do a sun flare now, I have the same situation in my kitchen..I to get that sun flare.

Tulips to blizzards.. sounds about right. ;)

Nice sunflare!!

You know, I was playing around with Becky's Ken doll the other day, trying various settings on my camera... with the tv in the background!! It really does look cool. :)

I've been all about abstract photography this week. I love your first two shots especially for this reason!

All your shots are gorgeous! I love the one of the thread with the TV in the background. I never would have guessed that's what it is - I'm off to try it out for myself! Thanks!

These are gorgeous! The sunflare in the first photograph looks incredible and I love the colour of the tulips against the blue- a great reminder that spring is on the way.

I'm tellin you, you gotta sell your artsy photos--these are so fun! I especially love the thread..and the starburst. SO cool. ;)

Natalie said...

Love the thread photo especially. Was the tv on? What was your thread sitting on? The tv sure makes for a neat background.

Could you believe how fast that snow came up? Remember back in Nov. how we were wishing for snow to take picture of? lol

I am loving the sun through the blind shot. I just love sun sparkle and flair. The TV as the background works so perfectly doesn't it.. for a nice softness. I been thinking of doing some shots with thread so now I guess I will do them with the TV as the background.

oOoooOOOooOOOoooo.... L o v i n g the last shot and the tulips! gasp... guess what!?!?! We just got 10 feet of snow and its still coming down! Thats 10 feet of pure hate!!!!! grrr.... I hate snow. HATE IT! (why I live in Utah which is known just for its snow bets me. stupid Utah.)

That tulip shot is *so* delightful! The spring weather we enjoyed makes this cold and snow seem.....blah! I sure would have never thought to use the tv as background. Very cool!

Awesome pictures Karli! I love the tulips and can't believe you got all that snow less than a day later.

Katie said...

Just popping in to say "hey!" and that I LOVE those tulips!!!! I also did not enjoy the snow or shoveling after the gorgeously warm days we had just had...come on spring indeed! :)

fabulous starburst, really like the TV background idea.

Jessica Griz said...

I'm really liking the tulips!!! Can you believe we already have daffodils blooming here??? Hopefully we are done with snow, yay for early spring.

So, I thought I had a fav, but as I kept going down they kept showing up!

xoxoxo

Love seeing these -- such a cool inspiration!

What an amazing sunflare! So jealous -- it's been gray here again, or sunny when I'm stuck in the office! But work has those cool blinds... maybe I'll have to break out the camera at work... lol!

Love your "oops!" spoon. I'd love to have an "oops" like that!

Beautiful tulips -- and the snow is so NOT funny anymore! Isn't the weather changes so crazy!!??

And OH MY goodness! Love the thread shot -- awesome colors! Crazy that you used the tv as a background... have NO clue how you managed to make it look so pretty, considering the stuff on the screen is usually trashy! lol! But, in all reality, you must have planned what was on to get the cool colors... cause I really don't have any clue how you managed it!

Have a great week, Lady! Chat soon!!

So your weather seems similar to ours....hormonal! Last week it was near 70 and this week it's like the beginnings of winter all over again! BOO! But you sure know how to take it and MAKE IT! I love your TV in the background photo ... awesome perspective!
