the thankful tree

At last... our 2011 thankful tree is done! The five of us sat around the kitchen table last night and wrote on little cards all the things we were thankful for this year. We actually ran out of cards, we were grateful for so many things!

Some favorites from the evening:
Doron: "mom, my best friend" (that's me!)
Karli: "the best kids on the planet"
Collin: "an awesome God"
Drew: "our verses" (no the kids were not prompted, they're just good kids like that) :-)
Livia: "an alien with a hat on it"

See? Not prompted.

If my pictures are looking "off" lately, the color on my Mac is completely different than on my PC. The two monitors are sitting side by side on my desk, and I can't imagine what you all are seeing! On the Mac this photo is very dark and the table has brown tones, but on the PC it's really light, and the table has red tones. Frustration!

If you read my post yesterday about how I've been falling behind lately, that's the reason for this quick shot of the thankful tree. If you'd like to see our our 2010 tree, feel free to click on over. You can get a better idea of what it looks like, but with a different design. Have a wonderful weekend! :-)

I love the idea of a Thankful tree. :) I might have to do that.
I always wonder what my photos look like on other peoples' computers.

What a great tradition. You will treasure those. Livia's made me laugh out loud (what a cutie!) and your boys must be total sweethearts.

From what I understand, Macs are known for their accurate monitor colors. The color of your pics on my Mac look good to me. :)

Hehe, love Liva's! :-D I love the idea of a thankful tree, but we've never done it before. We do have a notebook that we've wrote in for about 10 years now. On thanksgiving we pass it around and we all write a bunch of things we're thankful for. So fun to read things from years ago!

The photo looks pretty good to me --- finely exposed, and red tones in the table.

What a great idea!

I love my pictures on my Mac. Won't even use Windows anymore. But I do want a calibrator to keep my monitor right...

I still think it's a great idea. ;) Maybe I'll do one next year.

Yours pics look good to me! :D Mine look bright on my laptop, then I'll look at them with the desktop and they're totally dark. Need a calibrator. ;)

What a lovely tradition you are instilling in your family....btw, the colors look good on our end. I agree a calibrator will do the job.

I'm on my old laptop, the one I have *always* used, and I'm seeing a darkish background to your pic with red tones in the table... but the highlights in the papers and bokeh look perfect. My hubby got me a new computer (dell laptop, ugh) so he can have this old one... and now after looking at that new screen I'm terrified to edit anything, ever. They're so so different. In fact, I was in tears about it yesterday. But my prints always come back matching this old computer... so I guess I need to get calibrated. Or a good external monitor too. You know, "if you give a mouse a cookie"...

*sigh*

I love your thankful tree. It's gorgeous. The tree and the blessings you have added to it. A wonderful idea, and I love that you shared.

P.S.- Your image looks great. Did you just get a Mac? I love mine!

Came to look at instagram but saw this and love it. I meant to do this this year and didn't. Reminder to do it for real next year. And I don't think your colors look off. I can't tell.

Your colors look awesome. Then again, I also have a Mac. ;-)

And you did it! You finished. Way to go. :-) And you have kids that are thankful for their verses?? It's like pulling teeth to get Evie to memorize her (and most times she doesn't bc I give up!). How do you do it??
