the calm after the storm

Happy weekend everyone! If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen a photo I took earlier this week: bright blue skies, red flowers and a beautiful 68 degree day. Fast forward 4 days, and we have this...

A winter storm began raging on Friday night...but tonight things were peaceful.

(Remember how to get those starbursts when you take pictures of lights? Just use a small aperture like f/22).

Also, I got hit with a nasty bug earlier this week so I haven't been on the computer hardly at all. I just noticed a little flurry of new followers! Hello!! :-) It always makes my heart swell to see new faces. xoxo

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

I love the sparkles in the snow too. I long to take pictures like this. Hope all is well your way & you are feeling better. Enjoyed seeing TT on the Tumblr link.

It looks so serene. I miss snow like this. Then it gets trampled on and is all brown (and yellow) and I don't miss it as much! Bee-u-ti-ful shot!

Hope you're feeling better!

Question for you Karli...I just looked at your Instagrid and don't see a place I can comment and have never looked at that before. Is there a place to comment on a picture and I'm just not seeing it??? Now you have "Back to life. Back to reality." stuck in my mind and I wanted to pay you back with something like, "Stop. Hammer time"!

Hope you're feeling better! Love how peaceful these feel. :D

We still don't have any snow. There's a little in ditches here and there... but we have grass.

And my trees are starting to bud. O.o It's too early!!

I'm afraid we're going to have a snowstorm in April...

I thought the snow was really beautiful. I headed out today to take a few pictures before it all started falling off the trees. Everything was covered in white and the sky was so blue. Loved it!
I hope you are feeling better!

These are just stunning Karli!!

I love your photo tips! I was thinking the other day you should have a tutorial link up at the top. You have done some great ones and I have been trying to dig around and find them. Is there an easier way?

This looks like something out of a fairytale story. Too perfect... the sparkles and the shadows and light.

Okay, I peeked at your settings and truly... amazed. This is perfection.

Also? I need a wide angle. Like, now.

This is gorgeous Karli. Wonderful job!

Sorry I've been away for so long - wow...look at all that snow. Kinda looks magical but I know I would be kinda hating it after a day or so. Hope you're feeling better too. Miss you.

Wow you've had more snow than us! That is one fabulous shot! I was wondering how you did that... and now I know. F22 ... (and I assume shutter is set to super-duper sloooowwwww - like 1 second lol - to let in all that light???)

Isn't it crazy how the weather has been changing! That snow sure is pretty in the pic, but in real life, what a cold pain.

Beautiful! We haven't even seen more than a dusting of snow this winter (and I'm perfectly ok with that!)
