resurrection eggs (easter activity for kids)

Hi friends! I'm sharing this activity with you a little later than I planned. With Livia's birthday last weekend, Easter week totally snuck up on me!

Have you heard of resurrection eggs?

What a great activity to do with your children the 12 days preceding Easter. We actually got a late start ourselves (my mom made a mad dash to a local Christian bookstore to buy a kit for my kids yesterday), but no problem! The stories are so short and simple we can easily catch up. (The goal is to read one story and open one egg each day before Easter).

Here's a peek inside the eggs. (If you notice the 12th egg is empty.... Jesus is risen!)

There are 12 pages in the little book. Each page begins with a verse.... then it tells you which egg to open.... and then there is a very brief explanation of the verse. So simple!

Even though we're just doing this activity with the boys during our devotion time at night, a certain someone wanted to play with the eggs.

If you're wondering what age range this would be good for, I would think maybe 4-5 years old on the young end. Livia definitely wouldn't be able to understand the verses. Collin is 10 and he still LOVES activities like these.

I'll pop in later this week to share another Easter family tradition with you.... salt dough tombs! A favorite in our house! :-)

Happy Monday! xo

Yeah... I realized today (when I flipped my calendar! ;) that Easter is next weekend.

Sigh.

We have some catching up to do, too. :)

Easter seemed to sneak up on me too. I remember doing these eggs with my older 3 girls.
My girl tells me the lilacs are in full bloom. What are you doing Wed. morning?

LOVE this!! I think I will be making a trip to LifeWay tomorrow. I did something similar to this with the kids for Christmas. I think it was a daily devotion with activities. Thanks for posting this!

I saw those at the store- definitely on the list for the Easter shopping in the next day or so. So happy to see these things available now after all these years of just bunny stuff.

What a wonderful idea! Emmett is too young to understand it, but he loves for me to read to him!

Only you, Karli, could capture such beautiful images of things like plastic eggs (do not get me wrong, they are fabulous) and they are In a plastic container. I mean, who makes things like plastic and kitchen gadgets look so magical besides you?????

Love all your Easter traditions. We really have none, so I'm gonna work on that next year. :)

I adore the fact you encourage and allow your kids to play and learn about Jesus and not keep Him in a box for Sundays only. :)
