you capture: everyday things

A little bright, no?

Did you ever have one of those days where nothing, but NOTHING you tried to photograph turned out right? Yesterday was one of those days. And to add failure upon failure, I tried to photograph highly reflective paper clips on a white surface. Boy, do I love a challenge or what?!

I went ahead and posted my failed attempt anyway because I spent way too much time trying to get it right....and because I've missed a bunch of You Captures' this summer. I was so looking forward to this week and had so many great ideas; none of which I had time to do.

So there you have it. :-) If your optic nerve is still intact, head on over to Beth's for some less jarring images. I promise they'll be much easier on the eye.

I think it's a great shot! I thought about doing paperclips for a macro week...but I was using my macro lens last night and felt like I'd never used a camera before. Ugh.

I agree with Ashley - I think this is a great shot. "Nicht schleckt" (not bad) as the German's would say.

That looks really cool! I bet it was hard to get it to turn out, too. My camera takes one look at something bright and reflective and just screams. And then laughs at me.

I've never visited your blog before, but I'm so glad I stopped by! Love this shot and many others. What wonderful photography.

I had that kind of camera day too. But I love your photo! Just bright enough I think, and it draws all the attention to the paper clips.

I don't understand why you think it's a failed shot - I think it's great.
I also love your creative-ness when it comes to what to photograph -
I won't lie,
I've been in a "creative" funk lately, and I really need to snap out of it - any suggestions for what you do to get "outta the funk"???

I really like it!!! Don't think it's a "fail" at all!

Love it -- have always loved color paperclips instead of the silver ones I use all the time!

Do I ever have a day where nothing that I photograph works? Uh. Yeah! About every photographic day of my life!!! ;( Very clever idea and definitely not a "fail!"

I love you and your perfectionistic self Karli. Totally see where you were going with it. Maybe lower your ap to increase your DOF???

Don't be so hard on yourself I think the shot turned out neat!

Definitely not a failure! And, if you look at your shots you took yesterday a week from now, they'll all look different. Or, you were right, and it just wasn't a good camera day - we all have them. I like this - it's bright and fun, and definitely fits the theme.

I LOVE the shot. It's so bright and fun. Great capture.

It's not failed, it's cool! Remember, perfect, crisp, clear focus is not always what makes a picture. The depth of field and color make this shot. And the message. What message? Focus Among Chaos.

definitely not a fail, I love it!! I wish I was that creative!
