You know photographing crayons is a rite of passage when you get a macro lens, right? What you might
not have seen is the hideous conglomeration of crayons shown here. I think I bought these for Collin in 2001. They're old.
Some people go out and buy a brand new sparkling box of crayons when doing a macro crayon shot.
Just doing my part to keep it real.

I like that you're keeping it real. Makes me happy.
Oh how I wish I had a macro lens. Can you believe I don't have one?? {big sigh}. I love this shot. And I love even more that you didn't go out and buy a new box of crayons! This is perfect.
At least yours are all still in their wrappers and not broken to pieces. If and when I get my macro lens I'll take a picture of my bucket of crayons. It's not pretty.
I love this 'real' version! Very pretty and more interesting than the uniform new ones. ;)
oh my gosh, those crayons look GREAT for being almost 10 years old! my son cant keep a crayon in tact for more than a week. Great shot!
I love it! And I love that the crayons aren't new and perfect!
I could lend you the quarter to buy a new box! I like it the way it is though! Thanks for keeping it real!
Your crayons are shabby chic - make no apologies!
I like these better than perfect crayons!
I'm with Colleen and Ciera. Ours are all smashed to pieces with random torn paper. But they're still beautiful, as you showed here.
Oh, I love this photo! What a great lens, keep letting us know your feedback. I am seriously considering one. :)
atleast all your crayons are whole...all of ours are broken bits and pieces. :) Fun shot, definitely starting to have some lens envy. :)
we have crayons jsut like that, I am hoping that Santa bribngs that cool crayola thing so we can melt them and make new groovy crayons... Great photo friend.
And that's what I love about your blog. Loving these shots with your new lens.
Brand new crayons would be BORING! This is so much better :D Personality and authenticity!!
I'm with everyone else BORING brand new crayons this shot has CHARACTER!
Great job K!
Hugs and love,
Jill
I am now needing a macro lens. See what you did? I have you to blame. New camera first, but THEN the macro lens.
PS...Regarding your comment on my blog about the marker incident... I am NOT a laid back mom, anything but the sort. I wasn't shooting before the incident, I just felt the need to document it and instinctively grabbed my camera b/c that's what I do. I'm a little crazy in the head like that. (Plus my daughter once "accidently" got washable marker on the leather before so I knew it would wipe off!).
love it! that would make a great print in a kids room!
Love this REAL photo. Brand new sparkling box is boring.
Good Job! :)
These ones show some love. :) Nice job!
love it! I think I would like this better then a new box.
I love this pictures ... it would look great hanging on the wall in Tyler's room. GREAT idea!!
Cool
I'd choose these over pristine sharpened ones any day! Great photo!*
*Your 'Thankful Tree' is awesome!
Another picture on another site I write for.

Thanks.
Comment 26 on your crayon macro. hehe. You are so popular. I never did a crayon macro picture when I got my macro lens. I had no idea it was a mandatory thing!
I love this. :)
Wonderful picture with so much personality! Makes me want a macro lens!
Yes, this crayon shot is so much better than the usual new crayon shot. Sadly, my crayons here haven't been used much, so they don't have anywhere near as much character - something that my need to be rectified soon!
