ft. lauderdale

This is a fun post for me because Ft. Lauderdale was where I met Doron, where we got married and where Collin was born. (We actually lived in Plantation, and Collin was born in Margate, but same thing). ;-)

It's funny, I've always told Collin he was born in Coral Springs. Only when we were driving to the hospital so he could see where he was born...did I realize it was actually Margate. The cities are so close to each other in South Florida, you can be out of one and in another before you know it.

I like the walking picture, Doron likes the picture at the stop sign, so you get both.

Drew and Livia were born in Nebraska, and we often drive by the hospital where they were born. Collin doesn't share that little bit of history with them, so I thought it would be cool to show him University Hospital where he was born.

I snapped this shot of Livia in the little park right behind the condo where we used to live. I used push to Collin in his stroller there all the time.

Here's a shot of me and Doron's old hangout...San Loco, a little taco joint. It's now Tyrannosaurus Mex. Ha! :-) Same food, different name.

We spent parts of two days just driving up and down A1A. When I lived in Florida, I used to do that all the time. This is the pier in Deerfield Beach where I lived before I met Doron. I actually lived on this road (Hillsboro) for you locals. :-)

So let's see...I think I'm going to do two more Florida posts and then things will be back to normal around here. One will be pictures from our stay at the Sandpiper Hotel on the beach, and the other will be shots from the airplane as we traveled home.

Have a great weekend! :-)

How fun for Collin to see the hospital he was born at! :) And you have no idea how badly I wish I was standing on the beach right now! It's been so cold and rainy here in Seattle. Boo!

It's so neat visiting old haunts. I used to live in FL. I don't miss the humidity but I sure do miss the beaches.

Wondeful photos! Would you mind sharing what actions you used on the bike and your old hang out. I love it!! I would love to be on a beach right now!

I love your Florida posts! The history you shared is nice to read. I love how you got to back to the area behind your old condo to see where you used to push your oldest in his stroller. Very heart warming.

As for your captures, I love all of them of course, but my favorite is the one with your daughter in front of the bike. Love it.

Great post Karli!

That's really cool that you showed your son the hospital he was born at. Would want him to feel left out.

And you know, I don't think anyone minds the Florida pictures, so keep them coming!

I didn't realize you had a FL connection. I'm from Miami and now that I'm back to Florida it kinda feels like I'm back home (although 4 hours away) Great shots! Loving all your FL posts.

This was so fun. How cute that you visited the hospital.

I heart Fort Lauderdale. We've gone there lots, our most recent trip was last spring, just my hubby and I. One of our favorite restaurants is 15th Street Fisheries. We sit outside and eat a Joe's Sizzler, their specialty. SOOOOO good. Would love to know if you've been there and if you haven't, you should go the next time!

Been loving your Florida posts and pics. xoxo

I agree with some of the other comments - I like how you processed these. The slight vintage-y feel is nice. Just the right amount.

That's so awesome that Collin has that reference point now! So fun to reminisce about old hangouts and where you 'were' at that time in your life.

Oh! And the Department of Tourism for the State of Florida called and they want to purchase rights to ALL your photos from your trip to use in their advertising and brochures. No. Really. They're that incredible! (show-off). YKILY!

So much fun to check out all your former haunts, I'm sure! :D Someday I'd love to visit North Bay, Ontario - I was born there, and my parents moved away when I was 3 months old. Going to eventually take my kids up there. :D

The pic of Collin by the stop sign kills me... he's in the tow away zone. :giggle
