glimpses of october

Well, it's that time again! Here's a little peek at our month of October. I'm a little short on words today; we just got back from a 3-day getaway in KC and I have 134 emails patiently waiting in my inbox. ♥

And last night, Photoshop crashed on my computer and I lost everything. Everything. I had all my actions backed up except for one set, but it's just months of organizing and personalizing Photoshop the way I like it. Actions organized in certain 'favorite' folders (gone)...all my saved shortcuts (also gone), all my original actions that I worked so hard to create (gone - I never even thought to back those up).

I realized I don't even know how to flatten an image - LOL! Two years ago, I made flattening an image F4, and now all this time later, I only know it as F4! All those shortcuts were deleted, so I have to figure out everything again. Fun stuff!

Welp, onward and upward, right? :-) Here's a look at October.

Oh! Did you see the pictures of my sweet TT at the library last week? If you haven't visited my Instagrid in awhile, feel free to check it out. Be sure to click on the 1st picture in the 3rd row; Livia in a shopping cart looking up at Collin. {melt!!}

Hope your week is off to a great start!

Ah! That Instagrid photo? Total swoon. :)

Good luck getting photoshop set up again the way you like it. That's how I felt when I got my 5D back from getting the focus repaired, and they had completely reset all the custom functions back to default. Why it didn't cross my mind that they would do that... I have no idea. Took me hours and hours to get it all the way I like it again.

I don't use Photoshop, I use Gimp instead, but I had the same thing happen. Had it personalized just the way I like it and Wham! lost it all! I haven't even bothered to update it again. It's just plain old Gimp now. (How lazy am I?!)

Hope you get back up and running again soon!

You make October look so amazing. I'm loving so many of these - the taxis, the sunset, the trees, and of course the one of TT in the cart (just to name a few). So fun!

Oh Karli! That is sucky about losing PS. How did that happen???? Just don't make the same mistake I did...my hard drive crashed and I hadn't back anything up. New computer, hard drive crashed AGAIN! Had I had anything backed up??? NO! I did not learn. I hope this can be a learning experience for you!

Great shots... see that someone was sick.

And so sorry about photoshop! Mine forgets things, but I've never lost everything.

Oh Karli. :( . Computers (or programs) that crash and take your info with them? Are a whole category of sick-to-your-stomach of their own. I'm so sorry that happened!!!!!

The library photos are fantastic! I have photos of Kelsey at that age at the library; turned her into a 3rd generation booklover!

How thrilled were you when you realized you'd caught that gaze of affection on Livia's face? OMGoodness. Stop it.

I didn't even know photoshop could crash! I have so much to learn! I did look at instagrid and I totally agree. That pic of TT is the sweetest!

KARLI!!! Oh no!!!! grrrr!!! Oh, I'm so frustrated with you... sure, it's just a computer program, but UGH!! Welp, onward and upward, right?" - that's the spirit!! Sigh. Good luck relearning and organizing it all again!

Oh wow! I haven't gotten an instagrid email in a bit... but it says I"m subscribed, so not sure what's going on there... ugh. You got some sweet ones there -- loving the carousel right, the one with TT in the shopping cart (melting with ya!)

And as far as I know, there isn't an android "instagrid" --- but I could upload them all to flickr... hum. I'll have to look into that. :-D

Love looking at all the little things you find every day... :-D

Hi Karli,
I'm back here to answer the question you left on my blog since my "reply to comments" isn't working right now. :)
First of all thank you for visiting. I love to visit you, and love it just as much when you visit me! :) For the peach photos that I took I used a couple of different actions to process them. I'm a bit of a cheater when it comes to PS. I use actions all the time. For the top photo in the post I used an action from MCP in the fusion set. It's the retro action. I LOVE the whole set and use them all the time. I have my own tweaks that I make to them, but they are my fav by far. I also ran MCP's color explosion on that on at 15% opacity. As far as the others go, I used an action that I got from a good flickr friend. She is very talented in so many ways. Here is a link to her blog where she shared this action. http://goodknits.com/blog/2011/08/09/the-august-break-08/ I used this action and then just removed the desat. I love it because like you I LOVE the feel of it. Anyway, I hope that helps. I do hope you get everything restored soon. That is a complete nightmare!

I've missed stopping by. I am without internet at the moment. Gasp! And have also lost some of my favs in this move. Sigh. So sorry for the loss. There is just not enough time in a day for such inconveniences and disappointments. You have inspired me to start shooting in instagram. Took a few yesterday and added the white border. Like the clean look you have here with the vibrant color. Good luck getting your photoshop back the way you like it. Hugs.

Ok. More questions. Thought you told me once you use the shake it app to get the white borders. Do you still take them with instagram and just leave them normal? Sorry. Trying to figure this all out. I really prefer using my camera, but like the convenience of the phone. Also the convenience of sharing. I could drool over your photos all day. Whether they are phone or camera, they are always great. You have a gift. I have a new email. It's callmelish@gmail.com. Would love some direction with these iphone pics. lol. Take care.
