the blue angels

On Saturday we took the kids to the Guardians of Freedom airshow to see the Blue Angels. Drew totally whimped out on us and we ended up leaving early, two hours before they performed. It was "too hot," (83 degrees) and we didn't bring cash for food (a lesson learned). My parents were also at the show, and thank goodness grandpa swooped in to buy us some overpriced food and drinks or I think we all would have wilted.

I was hoping to get some cool shots of the Blue Angels (I keep typing Blue Angles - LOL!)...but it was not to be. I'm not sure airplanes are the most interesting genre for us gal pal bloggers, but it's all I have for today.

Edit: I didn't realize the Blue Angels were performing again on Sunday afternoon! So with Drew's permission I skipped his soccer game and went for round two. It was just me & TT, and we had a blast!

Before the show started...

And they're off!

Have a great week! ♥

I love them all! It's always impossible to pick a favorite photo in your posts! Cool explosion photo. :-D

P.S. What are you doing in your editing to get the effect that's in the Fedex shot?

Great pictures! I think you did a great job of capturing the planes and the mood of the air show. Nicely done as usual.

Great shots, I really like the last one and the first one. I haven't been to an airshow in SO long. We wound up at the Free Fair last week, I thought I'd practice photographing smelly animals but that didn't happen.

That first shot is so perfect! I'm always afraid to shoot in full sun like that, but you really got great clarity and contrast. Makes me want to be brave too. ;)

Wow - these are really awesome! :D

Is it just me, or does the smoke cloud on the right upper corner of the fire shot look like a little dude from Space Invaders?? ;)

How much fun is this - Drew would totally melt in NC. 83 degrees would be a blessing. While on vacation, it was in the 60s...then we come back to 90 degree humid temps. So jealous of this experience and MISS YOU!

Wow Wow Wow Karli, these are GORGEOUS!!! Who would have thought airplane shots could be so GORGEOUS?! I loved the explosion shot, and the Nebraska umbrella shot, the boy on his father's shoulders . . . I love them all! I am so glad you and TT were able to return on Sunday for Round 2!

So holy wowzers. We had the opportunity to see them perform (okay, idk if it was THEM..the blue 'angles'..;) but it was something similar) a few months ago but we didn't. But this sure made me feel like we did! Great shots!
